Spotify APK on Firestick: Install Guide
Most Firestick guides jump straight to sideloading without checking the easy option first. Spotify is already on the Amazon Appstore for most Fire TV devices, no APK needed. This page covers that method, the sideload method for when you actually need it, and one thing that trips people up on newer Fire TV Stick models.
Check This Before You Do Anything
Vega OS Devices Can’t Sideload
If you have a Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025) or Fire TV Stick HD (2026), stop here. These run Amazon’s new Vega OS, which can’t install Android APKs at all, sideloading isn’t possible on these models no matter what method you try. Everything below applies to Fire OS devices: Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Stick Lite, and older Fire TV Stick models.
Method 1: Install Spotify From the Amazon Appstore
1. Search for Spotify on Your Fire TV
From the Fire TV home screen, select Find, then tap the search icon and type Spotify.
2. Select and Download
Choose Spotify from the results and click Get or Download. It installs the same way any other Fire TV app does.
3. Log In and Start Listening
Open the app, sign in with your existing account, and pick a few artists if it’s your first time. You’re set. No sideloading, no unknown-sources setting, nothing else needed.
Method 2: Sideload the Spotify APK With Downloader
Use this if the Appstore listing isn’t showing Spotify in your region, or you need a specific version the Appstore hasn’t rolled out yet.
1. Install the Downloader App
Search “Downloader” in the Fire TV Appstore and install it, it’s a free app made for exactly this.
2. Enable Apps From Unknown Sources
Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options, and turn on Apps from Unknown Sources. This lets Downloader install files outside the Appstore.
3. Enter the Code or URL
Open Downloader and you’ll see a field to enter a web address. Instead of typing a long URL on a remote, most sites register a short numeric code with Downloader that pulls up their page directly. Enter [DOWNLOADER CODE] in the field and hit Go, or type the full APK download URL if you don’t have a code.
4. Download and Install
Downloader fetches the file and prompts you to install once it finishes. Tap Install, wait a few seconds, then Done.
5. Delete the APK File
After installing, Downloader will ask if you want to delete the APK file. Choose yes, Fire TV storage is limited and you don’t need the installer file once the app’s on your device.
Method 3: Push It From Your Phone With Apps2Fire
If you already have Spotify installed on an Android phone, this skips downloading anything on the Fire TV itself. Install Apps2Fire from the Google Play Store on your phone, make sure your phone and Fire TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, then select Spotify from your phone’s app list and tap “Install on Fire TV.” It transfers wirelessly in under a minute.
Managing Storage and Cache
Fire TV Stick Lite and standard models only have around 5GB of usable storage after the system software. Spotify’s cache grows quickly since it pre-buffers upcoming tracks, and that adds up over weeks of regular use.
Clear the cache monthly through Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Spotify > Clear Cache. Don’t tap Clear Data instead, that logs you out and deletes anything you’ve downloaded for offline listening.
Don’t Want to Install Anything? Cast Instead
You don’t actually need Spotify installed on your Fire TV at all. Open Spotify on your phone, start playing something, tap the devices icon, and select your Fire TV if both are on the same network. This uses Spotify Connect to cast audio directly without putting the app on your TV.
